The top U23 men’s league in North America, the USL Premier Development League (PDL) features 68 teams within four conferences across the United States and Canada. The PDL season consists of 16 regular season matches for each team, 8 home and 8 away. Elite players have the ability to participate in the PDL throughout the summer months in a highly competitive setting while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. In addition to league play, PDL teams compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as various exhibitions. The USL Premier Development League has proven to be the source of many top players now plying their trade in USL-1, USL-2, and various leagues throughout the world.
“The Highlanders will represent the highest level of soccer in the Capital Region of Upstate New York,” states Steve Freeman, founder and Director of Player and Personnel. “We are excited to offer this elite level of play for area college players during their off season, and further our mission of developing the best soccer talent in the area.”
Freeman also states, “Along with providing a place for elite players to play and develop we hope to fill a void for soccer fans looking for some top quality, entertaining soccer during the spring and summer months.” The Highlanders will feature top college players and for area youth watching these games will give them a solid idea of what they need to aspire to play college soccer and be an impact player.”
