BWP FA Shines at the 2025 NEFC Spring Showcase: U16s Dominate, U17s Tie for First, U19s Narrowly Miss Top Spot

The 2025 NEFC Spring Showcase saw some impressive performances from BWP FA across various age groups, with each team showcasing resilience, skill, and determination. While the U14s had a tough start to their season, the U16s and U17s were the standouts, with both groups finishing in strong positions in their respective divisions.

U16s – 2009/10s Win the Group

The BWP FA U16s were the highlight of the weekend, securing a dominant first-place finish in their group. With a well-rounded team effort and standout performances from several players, the U16s proved they are a force to be reckoned with as they enter the heart of their competitive season. Their victories were hard-fought, but their cohesion on the field was evident as they claimed the top spot with confidence and skill. Academy Director Steve Freeman praised the team’s unity and commitment. “The players showed incredible focus and determination throughout the weekend. It’s a huge confidence boost for the team moving forward, and we’re excited to see how they continue to develop.”

U17s – 2008s Tie for First

In an equally impressive showing, the U17s finished in a three-way tie for first place in their group, missing out on the top spot by the slimmest of margins. Despite this, their performance was filled with promise, and their ability to remain competitive against some of the top teams at the showcase speaks volumes about their strength as a team. “We’re happy with the way the team performed,” said Coach Dave Santos. “We came very close to finishing first, but ultimately, it was the small details that made the difference. The players gave it their all to come back into the last match, and we’ll be working hard to fine-tune our strategy for the next tournament.”

U19s – 2006/07s Fall Short of First Place

The U19s, despite a strong effort, finished second in their group. While the result wasn’t as desired, the team played well and showed significant maturity on the pitch. Their teamwork and individual talent were on full display, and the coaching staff remains confident that this group has the potential to go far in the season.
“We were close, but not quite close enough,” said Coach Franz Zwicklbauer. “It’s always tough when you’re right on the edge of being first, but we’ll take away a lot of positives from this showcase and work on areas for improvement.”

U14s – 2011/12s Gain Valuable Experience

The U14s, who were participating in their first event of the year, faced a difficult challenge but were able to gain valuable experience. Finishing last in their group, the young team will undoubtedly take this as a learning opportunity to build upon for future events.
“We know it’s a tough start, but this is the beginning of their journey,” said Academy Director Steve Freeman. “They showed resilience and determination, and that’s something we’ll continue to nurture as they progress through the season. This event was all about growth, and they’ve gained a lot from it.”

A Promising Future

Overall, BWP FA had a highly competitive and productive weekend at the 2025 NEFC Spring Showcase. With strong showings from the U16s and U17s, and plenty of learning experiences for the U14s and U19s, the club is in great shape heading into the beginning of the traditional Spring season. The results from this weekend will surely fuel the players’ desire to continue growing, improving, and competing at the highest level.
With a strong commitment to player development and a focus on collective play, the future looks bright for BWP FA across all age groups. Stay tuned for a club announcement later this month!
