BWP Football Academy closes 2023/24 season with Celebration & BBQ

On the last night of July, nearly 70 Club members – players, families and coaches from the BWP Football Academy gathered at Christian Brothers Academy’s stadium field and pavilion to celebrate the 4 seniors (three in attendance) who have graduated and welcomed some of the new families into the Academy.

“It is not always easy to find time to celebrate. We felt strongly after all we have been through as an organization through the past several years that it was important to take some time to celebrate our 4 seniors and welcome many of the new families into the Academy,” stated Academy Director Steve Freeman.

The BWP Football Academy experienced a great turnout at trials and a substantial increase in registration.

“Trials were great this year. We are noticing that there are players and families who are seeking a more rigorous profile of a soccer club.”

The BWP Football Academy has been offering a weekly training periodization of 4 days a week since 2021/22 when it was a founding participant club in the MLS Next Academy League and affiliated with RBNY Academy.

“It certainly isn’t easy, but necessary for our players to simply try to keep up with other markets across the country and their competitive academies,” stated Freeman. “Demands on the staff, the families and the players are real issues that we have had to deal with, learn from and adapt. I am super proud and grateful that our seniors trusted our process and program. We are a better Academy today largely in part to their work, dedication and trust.”

The BWP Football Academy has expanded its 2024/25 programming to the following age groups – U13/14s, U15/16s, U17s and U18/19s plus a U11/12 Pre-Academy Training program launching in September.
