BWP Football Academy Launches Goalkeeper Academy with Director of Goalkeeping Dylan Martin

BWP Football Academy is excited to announce the launch of its new Goalkeeper Academy, offering specialized training for aspiring goalkeepers. Led by the newly appointed Director of Goalkeeping, Dylan Martin, this program will be open not only to BWP FA goalkeepers but also to goalkeepers from outside the academy. This expansion aims to provide expert training to young players in the region and beyond, helping them develop the skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive soccer environment.

A New Opportunity for Goalkeepers of All Backgrounds

The Goalkeeper Academy will be open to all goalkeepers, regardless of whether they are currently part of BWP Football Academy. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring goalkeepers from other clubs or programs to train with a professional coaching staff and gain valuable insights into the techniques and strategies that can elevate their game.

“We’re thrilled to be able to open this program to goalkeepers outside of BWP FA,” said Academy Director Steve Freeman. “Goalkeeping is such a specialized position, and we believe this program will benefit not only our own players but also the broader soccer community. Dylan Martin’s expertise will help any goalkeeper—whether they’re with our academy or not—take their game to the next level. I am super excited to have a BWP FA Alum working back in the Club with our players.”

Coach Dylan Martin’s Hands-On Training Approach

As the Director of Goalkeeping, Dylan Martin will oversee the development of goalkeepers 3-4 times a week, ensuring that each player receives personalized attention and expert training. Martin, with years of experience both as a goalkeeper and as a coach, is committed to improving the technical, tactical, and mental aspects of each goalkeeper’s game.

“I’m excited to work with goalkeepers from all different backgrounds,” Martin said. “Having players from various clubs and experiences will bring a lot of diversity to the training sessions, and I look forward to helping each player progress. My goal is to provide consistent, hands-on training that focuses on key areas like shot-stopping, distribution, and decision-making, but also to instill the mental resilience needed to be a successful goalkeeper.”

Comprehensive Training for Goalkeepers of All Levels

The Goalkeeper Academy will offer comprehensive training sessions designed for goalkeepers of all skill levels. Whether you’re just beginning to learn the fundamentals or you’re looking to refine your skills for high-level competition, the program will be tailored to each player’s needs. The training will cover essential aspects of goalkeeping, including:

Shot-Stopping: Perfecting diving techniques, positioning, and reflexes to keep the ball out of the net.

Distribution: Improving footwork and the ability to play out from the back with accuracy and confidence.

Decision-Making: Teaching goalkeepers when to act in high-pressure situations, such as when to come off the line or stay put.

Mental Resilience: Developing focus, confidence, and the mental toughness needed to perform well under pressure.

“Goalkeeping requires a balance of technical skill and mental strength, and we’re committed to developing both aspects,” said Martin. “By working with goalkeepers 3-4 times a week, we can dive deep into these areas and give them the tools to succeed.”

Opening Doors for Goalkeepers Beyond BWP FA

The decision to open the Goalkeeper Academy to players outside of BWP Football Academy is a testament to the academy’s commitment to developing talent at all levels. With Dylan Martin leading the program, players from different clubs now have access to one of the best goalkeeper training resources in the region.

“We want to offer high-level goalkeeper training to as many players as possible,” said Freeman. “By opening the program to goalkeepers beyond our academy, we hope to create a collaborative environment where players can challenge each other, learn new techniques, and push one another to improve.”

Looking to the Future: Developing Top Goalkeepers

As the Goalkeeper Academy kicks off, BWP Football Academy is excited to see the positive impact it will have on goalkeepers, both inside and outside the academy. With Dylan Martin’s leadership and commitment to regular, personalized coaching, the academy is poised to set a new standard for goalkeeper development in the region.
