As the NEFC Spring Showcase rapidly approaches, BWP Football Academy is excited to announce that it will be sending its U14, U16, U17, and U19 teams to compete in one of the most prestigious youth soccer events in the region. The showcase, which will take place in the Greater Boston area, is an annual opportunity for top-tier youth soccer players to display their skills and gain valuable exposure to scouts from college programs and professional academy teams.
Diverse Talent Across Age Groups
This year, BWP Football Academy is proudly sending a diverse group of players across multiple age groups, ensuring that a wide range of talent will be showcased throughout the event. The U14, U16, U17, and U19 teams have all been preparing for the event, with each squad looking to make an impact on their bracket at the showcase.
“We’re thrilled to have teams across various age groups represented at the NEFC Spring Showcase,” said BWP Football Academy Director & Head Coach Steve Freeman. “I am excited to see our U14s play for the first time this Spring, and interested to see how our 16s, 17s, and 19s respond after a solid performance at the Manhattan Kickoff Classic three weeks ago. This event will be a platform for all of our athletes to demonstrate their current capacities.”
Preparing the Teams for Success
To ensure the teams are fully prepared for the challenge ahead, BWP Football Academy’s coaching staff has been focusing on rigorous training and team-building exercises tailored to each age group’s needs. The U14s, with their youthful energy and developing techniques, have been concentrating on ball control and creative attacking play. Meanwhile, the older groups, particularly the U16s, U17s, and U19s, have been refining their tactical understanding, positioning, and mental resilience to excel in high-pressure situations.
“Our approach to training is designed to maximize each team’s strengths,” said Coach Machado. “For our U19s, we’re working on principles against the ball and preparing them for the type of high-level matches they may face in college.” While the U14s are focusing on principles with the ball, especially in the build-out to the build-up phase. “For our younger teams, it’s all about building confidence, wanting the ball and helping the ball advance forward, sharpening technical skills, and fostering a competitive spirit,” said Coach FJ Zwicklbauer.
Excitement Builds as the Showcase Nears
As the NEFC Spring Showcase draws closer, the excitement among the BWP Football Academy players continues to build. The event promises not only a high level of competition but also a chance for players to build relationships with teammates and coaches.
“We’re proud of the hard work and dedication our players have shown in the lead-up to the showcase,” said Coach Dave Santos. “Each team has shown great potential, and we’re confident they’ll represent the academy with personal pride. Whether they’re U14s or U19s, all of our players can play well at the event.”
Looking to the Future: College Opportunities and Beyond
For BWP Football Academy, the NEFC Spring Showcase is a critical moment not just for player development but also for future recruitment opportunities. College scouts from across the nation attend the event, looking for talented players who can contribute to their programs. For the older age groups, particularly the U17s and U19s, the event could serve as a gateway to collegiate soccer programs and beyond.
“The exposure at the NEFC Spring Showcase is invaluable for our players,” said Academy Director & Head Coach Steve Freeman. “It’s an important event for everyone, but especially for our older players who are nearing the end of their youth careers. We hope it leads to opportunities for them to continue their soccer journey at the collegiate level.”
